Earlier this week, the folk trio of Emm Gryner, Dayna Manning, and Laura C. Bates, collectively known as Trent Severn, brought their Canadiana to CBC, joining guest-host Terry O’Reilly on the popular show Q. In a great interview they explained the backstory behind the band and their ‘manifesto’ designed to highlight Canadian stories.
Christine is performing as part of the live band in Canadian Stage’s production of The Arsonists. Running from November 11th to December 9th, the play has been given 4/4 star reviews from the Globe & Mail and Toronto Star. Starring Michael Ball and Fiona Ried, and directed by Morris Paynch, The Arsonists features original music performed by Justin Rutledge.
The Elwins have been busy since we shot a studio session with them back in March. Touring relentlessly, the boys have been building up a ton of buzz around their release, And I Thank You. They just shot a genius new music video for their track ‘Forgetful Assistance’, which received tens of thousands of views within the first couple days.
The ladies in The Measure, temporarily known as The Vinylettes, will be touring with Stuart Mclean this holiday season as part of the Vinyl Cafe Christmas Tour. Starting tonight in Gravenhurst, Ontario, the tour will jump out to Victoria, BC, making its way back to Ontario throughout November and December. With a quick jaunt to the US, the tour wraps up in Ottawa on December 22nd.
“The Vinylettes” will be playing alongside Reid Jamieson. The Measure recently finished their debut album.
