A few months back we started kicking around the idea of shooting our own video session series. As fans of other video blogs, we’ve seen a lot of great content bloom out of live and off-the-cuff recordings. They’re a great way of going behind the scenes with our favorite artists- offering us a chance to experience music in a way we don’t often get from a record or from watching a show.
So we figured: Hell! Why not give this a shot ourselves?
We realized that the concept of a video blog is far from new, so in our attempt to offer something fresh we landed on the trifecta that makes up the Mojito Sessions:
1) Quality Video– for which we’ve teamed up with the extremely talented Mitch Fillion at Southern Souls!
2) Quality Audio– Working out of Verge Music Lab, we’re afforded the benefits of a killer studio- co-engineered with Steve Major. And of course our own Reuben Ghose will be mixing and mastering at Mojito.
3) The Kicker– We’re getting two unique artists to collaborate on a cover of their choosing. They’ll have never played the song together before. Fireworks? Here’s hoping!
For our first video we’ve enlisted the help of our friends in The Elwins as well as Luke Lalonde from Born Ruffians. Here are some preview photos from the pilot session:
And if you’re curious about the song they chose to cover:
We couldn’t be more excited. Stay tuned!
